Individuals

There is an ongoing need for skilled and unskilled volunteers to do a variety of home repairs, so there are always opportunities for everyone to be involved!

Saturday Workdays

Our general workdays are open to individuals on the 1st and 2nd Saturdays of every month in Coatesville, and the 2nd Saturdays in Phoenixville. (See schedule.) Individual volunteers can come to one workday a year or attend monthly workdays or anything in between! Typical projects include painting, installing windows, flooring, drywall, and insulation. General volunteers are led by Work Crew Leaders and Technical Advisors.

Monday Workdays

There is an additional opportunity for retirees to volunteer on our Monday workdays. We have a great group of volunteers who help to complete home repairs that are needed in between Saturday workdays.

We ask that individuals and groups schedule in advance. If you are interested in volunteering on a general workday or on a Monday Workday, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator by phone at 610-383-9247, or email.

More volunteer opportunities

There are ways you can get involved with Good Works if you are not comfortable doing the actual home repair. These “behind the scenes” volunteer positions are vital for workdays to be successful.

Photographer

Is your favorite tool your camera? Good Works has a place for you! Volunteers needed for the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays in West Chester and 1st, 3rd, and 4th Saturdays in Coatesville. Photographers take pictures at the work sites of volunteers and homeowners that will be used for various Good Works promotional materials and special events. Commitment is for one Saturday a month.

Lunch Helper

Would you prefer to help behind the scenes? Lunch helpers assist the Lunch Coordinator by donating food and helping to serve lunches to workday volunteers and homeowners on one Saturday workday per month.

Applications Interviewer

Needed immediately! This is a very important role in Good Works. An Application Interviewer visits homeowners in their homes and helps them complete the application paperwork. Application Interviewers schedule their visits with the homeowner at a time that is convenient to them. Time commitment is anywhere from one hour to six hours per month.

Workday Greeter

Greets workday volunteers at the start of the workday and assists them as they sign in and with any other volunteer information that is needed.

Office Support

Assists Administrative Assistant with office responsibilities including duplicating and collating, typing letters, creating forms, and mailings.
