The Application Process - What To Expect
Step 1: Complete the brief Intake Form
Step 2: Application visit
Once you have completed the application visit, the Application Interviewer will submit all of your paperwork to the Applications Coordinator who will review the application and verify all information that has been provided. You will hear shortly thereafter if further information is needed, or if a decision has been made. If you would like more information, or would like to check on the status of your application, please contact the office at 610-383-6311.
A short time before we start working at your home, a home inspection will be scheduled. The purpose of the home inspection is for the Repair Supervisor to evaluate all repairs that are requested. There is a chance that not all of the repairs you request will be approved. A work plan will be created and it will list those repairs that Good Works will commit to complete at no cost to you. Also, you will review the ways you and your family will participate on workdays based on your ability.

If there is an emergency, such as lack of heat in the winter months, or a lack of water, we will make every effort to schedule that repair as soon as possible. For all other repairs, your approved application will go on an extensive waiting list to be scheduled as soon as we have a work crew available to begin. This may take as long as, (or even more than) 18 - 24 months from the time your application is approved depending on where you live.
Most of the repairs are done by Good Works volunteers. The volunteers are led by a volunteer Work Crew Leader and a Technical Advisor. The majority of the repairs are scheduled on Saturdays. From March to October, Corporate Workdays occur during the week and consist of volunteers from local businesses who give up a day of work to help with repairs.
