The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it.

Genesis 2:15

Good Works Genesis Project

Today, Good Works is being a good environmental steward by:

  • Weatherizing homes and upgrading heating systems reduces fossil fuel consumption,

  • Repurposing used building supplies like kitchen cabinets that would otherwise end up in landfills,

  • Recycling scrap metal in a manner that provides income for local residents,

  • Installing energy saving light bulbs in client homes,

  • Repairing leaking plumbing fixtures and installing water saving devices to conserve water,

  • Recycling used kid’s books in Good Works Pop Up Lending Library in Coatesville.

But we must do more!

Low-income families struggle financially with the costs of heating and cooling their homes and there is an environmental impact.

75% of "no heat" calls are due to lack of maintenance and degraded furnace efficiency impacts the environment.  Low income homeowners can't afford maintenance contracts.

Solution: Good Works HVAC maintenance program provides funding for keeping heaters and cooling systems operating at peak performance.            Donate Now to help pay someone's annual maintenance!

Traditional fossil fuel based heating systems (oil, propane, etc.) are costly to operate and are not good for the environment.

Solution:  Alternative systems (e.g. heat pumps) are an extremely energy-efficient form of space heating and cooling and offer lower operating cost for homeowners.  But, the initial cost to install a system is greater than conventional HVAC systems.             Donate Now to help supply an alternative HVAC system!

Old houses leak.   Whether heat or water, leaky homes are bad for the environment.

Solution: Reducing energy losses by installing new windows & doors, weatherstripping and insulating living spaces is expensive but environmentally responsible.  Defective plumbing wastes precious water and increased costs for homeowners.                                              Donate Now to help seal a leaky home!

We look forward to installing renewable energy systems (solar, wind, geothermal) someday!
