God Honoring Experience

Good Works has introduced a special initiative entitled the “God Honoring Experience.”   Every Good Works workday is comprised of a series of interactions between volunteers and homeowners from diverse backgrounds, cultures and experiences. More often than not, these interactions are positively life changing, but on occasion, situations can lead to those involved becoming offended and upset.  It might be a lifestyle choice, a questionable judgment, a disagreement, or simply a misunderstanding that regretably leads to a destructive response. But, we have found that applying the 5 tenets of a God Honoring Experience in these situations changes everything.

When in that place where you begin to feel judgmental or offended, or you see those emotions arising in others, you must first Suspend Judgement.   Then pause, take a breath, and pray.  Empathize with the other person's situation.  Try to understand their point of view.  Then apply one or more of the tenets.   Your response may be physical, relational, or spiritual, or a mix of the three.

Remember, that in the end, our goal is to look at every interaction (good or bad) as an opportunity to glorify our Creator.   If you would like more information about the God Honoring Experience and how to apply it, please drop us an email at:  office@goodworksinc.org
